This policy explains how Borealis researches, writes, and maintains the buying guides on this website. It applies to every guide we publish.
Where our information comes from
Our guides are written from publicly available information: manufacturer specifications and documentation, Canadian retailer listings and pricing, and other reputable public sources where available. We aim to describe products from that public information rather than from personal opinion.
No claims of firsthand testing
Borealis does not claim to have personally tested products unless an article explicitly states that testing took place. Our guides are based on published specifications and verified product information, not hands-on testing. We also do not publish invented reviews, fabricated test results, or fake author bylines.
Accuracy and how we handle change
Prices, availability, specifications, compatibility, and features change frequently. Our content reflects the information available at the time of publication. We update guides when we notice something has changed, but a detail may be out of date by the time you read it — so check the current manufacturer or retailer listing before you buy.
How recommendations are made
Our guides focus on fit rather than crowning a single winner. Instead of naming one product as best for everyone, we explain why a product may suit a particular use case, budget, platform, or preference, and what its trade-offs are. You will often see us say that no single product is best for every reader, because that is true.
Language and claims
We avoid exaggerated claims. Phrases such as “guaranteed best”, “perfect”, or “#1” do not appear unless something is objectively supported — which, for consumer products, it usually is not. Where we are uncertain, we say so rather than guessing.
Corrections
